May 6th

Last month meeting was on biodynamics, and next week the same theme will be extended by our members of the Viroqua Biodynamic Group. (They just had this past Saturday the annual spring preparation day at Chrysalis Farm). In preparation for Saint John, the meeting of June will be about the festival and its meaning.

Stuart visited Viroqua and planted seeds amongs us, it was very good to have the meetings two Sundays in a row and to see how the ideas were spreading and taking shape. The Old Main Building echoed Thoreau's and Goethe's words in harmonies.

The Christian Community in Viroqua is organizing a full program for Saint John, with a conference on the Mystery Dramas by Daniel Hafner and various other events, a Youth Conference, a Saint John's festival....more information and programs to follow soon.

March 19th

For this month's meeting we had Eurythmy again with Annette Conlon, and Rich Grams offered a talk on Whitsun with charcoal drawings. There is scheduled a biodynamic introduction for next month, with stirring of the prep with Steven Adams and Brian Wickert.

A comitive in Viroqua went this past weekend to the ordinations of the priests from the Christian Community in Chestnut Ridge, New York. It was great to see Paul Newton, a member of Viroqua for the last years, entering the priesthood in such a special ceremony.

There is a group forming with the intention to prepare a scene of the Mystery Plays from R. Steiner, contact one of us if you are interested.

February 18th

This past Monday Annette Conlon, the eurythmist at the waldorf school, taught us some movements with the Verse for America as a background.

These second Monday of the month meetings will continue to be open to the public, next one probably will incorporate a session about the upcoming season of Whitsun and its meaning.

January 19th

The Turning Place is opening the meetings for everybody interested to attend. Below is the invitation letter.

Dear Friends of Anthroposophy:

The Turning Place: Where Spirit and Earth Meet, is a center to hold meetings and activities related to Spiritual Science and its fruits. You are receiving this invitation because you have attended a conference, are a member of a group inspired out of anthroposophy or are on our email list as a friend. The Turning Place moved from Main Street last summer and after organizing the space and the library, the steering committee feels ready to offer a small program or festival study at each monthly meeting. We invite you to share in what we hope will be a nurturing activity.

Our monthly Turning Placemeeting will take place on the second Mondays of the month. The next meeting is Monday evening February 13 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Room 202, Landmark Center. For those who wish to socialize and browse the anthroposophical library, we will open at 6:30 pm.

The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm with our study this month on Rudolf Steiner’s Verse for America and we will work with Annette Conlon to move it with Eurythmy.

At 8:00 we will begin our business meeting, looking ahead to other monthly topics for the coming year. If you would like to be part of the planning, we welcome your ideas. If not, people can leave at this time.

Our monthly meetings are scheduled on the second Monday of each month and are open to all who share an interest in the work of Rudolf Steiner and anthroposophy. We invite local friends of anthroposophy to share their work with us during these meetings, so let us know if you are interested in presenting some time during the year. We would like to have a statement describing your presentation or an outline; we also plan to have festival studies four times during the year (March, June, Sept., Nov).

Call or email mary@pleasantridgewaldorf.org with questions: 608-629-5507
If you do not wish to receive monthly invitations, please let us know by responding to this email.

August 31st 2011

Report from:

The Nineteen Lessons of the First Class of the School of Spiritual Science
August 7-12, 2011 held at Fair Oaks, California

This special event was the fourth time since 2007 that all Nineteen Lessons have been presented over several days in freely rendered form. The other presentations were in London, Ann Arbor, and Dornach.

Classholders from the U.S., Canada and members of the Collegium of the School of Spiritual Science at the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland, presented three Class lessons per day. The Class members in attendance were able to enter deeply into every step of the unfolding path of the Michael School, experiencing a significant spiritual event. Personally, experiencing different Classholders was refreshing and inspiring.

This presentation was especially significant because it coincided with the 150th anniversary year of Rudolf Steiner’s birth. There were special exhibits of his work and life, and each evening lectures as well as artistic offerings. We heard from Virginia Sease, Michaela Glockler, Douglas Miller, Astrid Schmitt-Stegmann as they spoke about Steiner’s early years, time in Weimar, his esoteric work and his impulses during and after WWI. In addition we heard about the Christmas Meeting in 1923 during which the Anthroposophical Society as we know it today was founded. Each evening was closed with a Eurythmy presentation of the Foundation Stone Verse, an amazing gift!

As you can imagine this was a very full program but the rhythm of the day amazingly allowed for sufficient time to rest and prepare for the next lesson. The weather was also extraordinary and the staff at Rudolf Steiner College were wonderful hosts! It felt like a festival. I am happy to talk about it further if anyone is interested.
